Turn signals don't work
The turn signals don't work. The lights, brake lights, back up lights and emergency flashers do work. With the key on, I can get power on the orange wire going into the flasher and I can get power going from the light blue wire at the steering column connector to ground. When I use my light power tester on this wire, I get flashing in it. I don't know whether I should take the steering wheel off and look at the turn signal switch or look somewhere else.

Check that you have that flashing power (light blue wire) on both sides of the connector going up the column (to confirm the connection is good), if you do then your problem is the TSS itself and you will need to take the steering wheel off to take a look.

Re: Turn signals don't work
I found when I pulled the steering wheel off, the plastic signal cam had come away from the metal thing that the indicator stalk screws into and wasn't making contact. Had to tap a screw into the metal bit and make a washer to hold the cam in place...so far so good, it's a mustang trick i believe!

I traced it to the turn signal switch and checked both the cam and the switch. The contacts on the switch were sunk in so I went to the junk yard and got a new switch and cam and spliced the wires at the bottom of the steering wheel column. Now when I signal right, the dash and front work correctly, but no lights in the rear. When I signal left, the dash and the front work correctly, but both back lights blink. I double checked my wires, but I could have one crossed. Also, my truck has been wired for campers and trailers in the past, so maybe that is it. Any direction on how to pinpoint the problem would be helpful.

I tried a replacement cam shortly after I got my '70 F100, with the same results as you.CocineroLarry wrote:I traced it to the turn signal switch and checked both the cam and the switch. I pretty much said, "screw it", bit the bullet and bought a new switch from Shee-Mar (http://www.sheemar.com) and I've never looked back.
That was six years ago, and only cost me in the $50 range.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
That's not an oil leak
