heater controls light

Post by DMiller »

This is a strange question, but here it goes...Are all of the heater control words suppose to be lighted? I had noticed it was not lit very well and since I had already replaced the instrument panel lights with leds I figured I would replace this one too and take care of the problem. Did not work, the "low and off" words are still dark.

the bulb socket is all the wya to the other side. so maybe it just isnt gettignt he light over there. the back plate with the words on it have a plasitc thing on the back tha may cut down the flow of the light. but it isnt upagainst the plate. it sits back from the blue part. here is a picture of one i just happen to have laying here. bending light is hard to do. the blue part acts more like a light spreader and may not be spreading the light enough. or maybe its dirty. if you take it apart be careful these things break off the tabs pretty easily. that is what happened to this one. it can still be put back in. but you have to be careful doing it.

what was i thinking. the bulb housing is in the middle. not to one side. the switch is what i was thinking of earlier. be careful taking it apart to clean and or inspect that. it may be dirt some a piece of paper in there blocking the light in the housing.
