the 71 donor panel had idiot lights for oil pressure and alternator. The connector on the rear was smaller than on my 1970.
My 1970 panel has all the gauges, no idiot lights. the connector is larger. makes sense so far.....

the temp gauge has longer mounting screws, but installed without any issue. I tried to put my old temp gauge in the donor instrument panel and the mounting screws were too short. NO big deal, its a donor truck, right?
Well, now I have temp gauge that works

Question is.....is the higher temp reading a result of different resistance within the gaugue itself? OR is the mounting screws only a product of the casing it was in originally? In short, is there any electrical differnce between the temp gauge in a 1971 with idiot lights vs. a 1970 with full gauges?
