ignition switch

Post by thrush544 »

Yesterday I was going to drive her but she wouldn't start. Had spark and gas, thought maybe not enough gas so I changed the filter. :hmm: Wasn't it. Maybe not enough spark, changed out the coil, not it either. So went looking for any fusible links that would alow it to fire but not run, couldn't find any  Finally found the ignition switch to be faulty and poorly made, messed with it and she took right off :hd:

Now this is a fairly new switch the previous owner put in. I'm not sure where he bought it from but it was not put together very well. Does anyone know if the ones Dennis Carpenter sells are good? It appears you have to buy the switch housing and the ignition cylinder separate. Any other recomendations on where to purchase a well made ignition switch?

Thank you & God Bless,
Ed

i was looking at the dc web site the other day. and they had word "imported" posted in the part that i was looking at. i have heard that many chinese mad switches do fall apart fast. i have also heard that places like napa cna get good quality switches and other parts. i will also send you a pm about some good original switches i have.

Thank you for your help Fordman, I took your advise and went ahead and ordered one from the local NAPA store.
