Re: no tail-lights
to ford or foot, i removed instrument cluster and voila, found the two original brake switch wires. The solid red still has power. I connected the 2 together simulating switch but still no lights. my question is does the housing have to be grounded to have juice? Also where is the tss located? I replaced the cam inside of column cpl years ago.Is this the same as tss? I would like to use my original wiring and get rid of that rigged out brake wire.

Re: no tail-lights
the housing is grounded to the bed and the bed is grounded to the frame. the frame is grounded to the lower valance. the valance grounds to the cab the cab to the engine and the engine to the battery.
the tss (turn signal switch is what the cam mounts on.

Re: no tail-lights
this is hard to trace. So far ive determined ive got power at original brake wire. ive traced power to emergency flasher switch. Got power there. Then to flasher. got power there.Although with switch on power is constant on the out instead of blinking. Im assuming bad flasher.from there i traced it to where it goes into steering column . still have power. Now, instead of pulling wheel what color coded wire comes back out of column to the back brakes?

Re: no tail-lights
That is the turn signal wires the green and yellow ones they use the same wire... If you have brake power going into the column then the problem is either the wire inside the column or the TSS switch itself (or the where the wire contacts the switch) I'm guessing the TSS itself.
Here is a picture of what it looks like, you see where the brake wire it on the cam (which you replace) so check it there and that it has power on it.
The emergency flasher will not pulse the output without a load on it so until the wire is connected to the lights it will be on solid.

Re: no tail-lights
It should be Green/red striped or similar for the brake light wire, the light blue wire is the turn signal flasher wire. there is some more good info here on the wires and functions. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... &sk=t&sd=a

Re: no tail-lights
ive got a light blue wire coming out of my instrument cluster with a pigtail connector that plugs into another light blue wire behind dash. I cant discover any power for it. What could it be? Also there is a small little block , probably 1 by 1 inch wired into ithink my turn signals right before it goes into my column. It separates into 2 sections ind has 2 red wires coming off it. The two halves were joined together and taped up right beside column. I new it was there but never untaped it. I think when my signals are on , the beeping sounds come out of it.It was heavily taped like trying to dampen the sound.

Re: no tail-lights
if your truck is a 67 that sounds like a turn signal flasher. but the colors sound wrong.[\color] http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... Re: no tail-lights
i think your right but it doesnt have any spade connectors. Its wired straight in. and the two halves have to be taped together to stay together. Ill know more when i get this thing wired back together.

Re: no tail-lights
That sounds like the wire that would go from the flasher to the TSS it should look something like the one in the attached picture, I'm guessing from that description of that square box wrapped in tape thing you found that the PO wired up some new aftermarket flasher into the system and cut the wires going to the stock flasher. (my guess at this point...)
