FUSE KEEPS POPPING

Post by 67fordman1 »

Fellas, I have a problem with my 67 F100 blowing the turn signal fuse. I have replaced the flasher solenoid with a new one,(the old one was very slow to blink), turn signals all work fine now but the fuse will blow after the truck is off and turn signals not on! I know that sounds odd, but I have already changed 3 fuses, and they are blowing with signals not on. HELP! :?

the most i can say is that flasher units have different flasher rates. if you try changing back to the old flasher maybe it will quit blowing fuses. some flashers will send out more power. and may require a relay to make the power work properly with our trucks and the number of bulbs it powers.

Fordman, thanks for the reply, and you may be right about the flasher. The original flasher in my 67 was a rectangular shaped unit and I replaced it with a regular round can style flasher. I think i"ll try and find the original style. Thanks again.

If the fuse is blowing after the truck is off, you probably have a wire that is hot that has short. Check connections where insulation might be broken and rubbing against metal causing the short.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???
