Guages going out

Post by Kat777 »

So, starting last week, some of my guages will randomly stop working, the ones with the problem are the fuel guege, the temp, and the oil pressure, and when this happens, the blinkers stop working as well, but the speedometer is fine, any tips before i start climbing around under the dash tomorrow?

Check/clean your ground wire connections... Do the main one; battery to engine, and second engine to firewall, and last would be the instrument cluster to the column support (but this last one wouldn't effect your blinkers) see if that helps... You might have more then one issue or could be something else but I would start with the grounds. :2cents:

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

thats what i was thinking, hopefully its something simple like that, as when they go, they all go and take the blinkers with them.

Speedo is mechanical and cannot be effected by bad electrics.

There is one big connector for the dash. Check that connection. Everything you mentioned goes through that connection. The cluster (dash panel) comes out real easy, just remove the 8 screws and gently pull it towards you. Or you can lay on your back and reach up. It's a lot easier to take out the 8 screws.

Checking the other connections as Thunderfoot suggested would be good too.
