Wire coming out of choke on 2bbl carb
There is a wire that comes out of my choke the the 2bbl carb of my truck. Does it mount to the starter solenoid?

Re: Wire coming out of choke on 2bbl carb
the carb throttle sensor hooks up like the diagram shows. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... master.jpg the electric chokes i think can be ran to the stator side of the alternator. it seems to me there is usually a brown plug that those plug into if it is present. but i may be thinking of the 73-79 trucks.

From looking at that diagram, it looks like I was looking at the starter motor instead of the choke. Would have to look under the hood tonight to be sure. I didn't know the starter motor was mounted to the carb.

For an "electric choke" you will want to wire it to the Stator (S) connector on the back of your alternator. You wont find a wire diagram for an electric choke on our old trucks as they didn't have electric chokes on them.

Ok, so what exactly is it that is connected to the left side of my carb? Any ideas?

Left side as your are sitting in the cab, that would be a "Carb Throttle Solenoid" It is used to up the idle (activates when engine is running) when key is on and shuts off when key is off (drops idle so engine stops easier). This should be a Blue wire and there should be a single blue wire on the firewall that it connects to.

Sorry, no. Left side as you are looking under the hood.

OK, it's black and about 1-3/4 to 2" diameter, that would be an electric choke. Someone probably replace the carb with a newer one with electric choke, wire as stated above to the stator (sta) post on the back of the alternator.

I believe it is black, yes. has a link that connects to the carb butter fly.

Re: Wire coming out of choke on 2bbl carb
Thanks to everyone for their help. I will connect the cable to the back of the alternator.
