Yeah I scored on that one! Looks like the tach was originally out of a different panel, it has a little more fading than the rest of the gauges. The rest of them practically look new, and it there's some lettering on the back of the panel that may indicate it was rebuilt. I just need the connector for the truck side of the harness and I'll be in business!

Still trying to find a distributor with a tach drive too. Mine actually came with the tach! But since its a cable drive I need the distributor with the drive. Or find one that looks similar, the stock tach only goes to 4k anyway.

FT dist. come with tach drive but the end for the oilpump drive is to large to use on FE blocks, and the FTs come with larger oil pump driveshafts to. :2cents:

BTW the same type of connectors are used on our steering columns. If you manage to find a bump in the junkyard you can snag that.

Never found anyone that carries the pin connectors though.

That's awesome! :D

I made a run to pick and pull, but the dash harnesses go pretty quick! I'll have to check for the steering column connectors though, not nearly as popular.

the tss connector and the dash connectors are close but not quite. the tss doesnt have enough pin locations required for the cluster.

the cluster i have well all three of them are 12 pins per connector. i must say that all of mine are full gauge clusters. and they dont have any tach or vacuum gauges clocks or dorr bells in them. haha

Yeah I see what you're saying, I remembered wrong and was thinking the dash panel was an 8 pin like the steering plug. My bad :doh:

Me too!

Well I guess I'll have to keep checking the inventory at pick and pull and see when they get a new '67-'69 in. Or just connect each wire individually... :doh:

I'm sure I could get a generic 12 pin connector that would work, but then I'd have to change both ends instead of just one! :lol:

Fortunately I managed to score big at the other local pick-a-part (we have several locations nearby), they had a few '67-'69 bumps and I managed to find one with the wiring harness intact! :woohoo: Of course it probably took me longer to find an old connector than it would have to just buy a new matched pair and wire it, but oh well. I found some other good stuff so it was worthwhile.

So now I've got the connector and just need to get to installing it. Wiring is not my idea of a good time, but with the pictures from earlier in the thread I think I should be able to manage :D

All you should have to do is match up the colors, with the exception of a purple wire I think.

That's what I get for looking at the pictures instead of reading the post! :doh:

Any idea where the purple wire goes? And did you ever figure out what the extra black, red, and yellow wires went to? Was wondering if you had a "full" gauge package in your truck or the kind with the "idiot" lights in it.

Also, I wouldn't think the temp gauge should read any different, water still boils at the same temperature regardless of gas or diesel. And some of these panels should have been in the gas powered F-600's too, they had 401/475/477/534 engines in them that were gas powered. Not positive about the oil pressure, but I would think it should be similar. The lack of actual numbers is a little annoying, but then again the stock panel didn't have numerical calibrated gauges either, just the same general hot/cold, low/high gauges. The gauges might read a little different than your old gauges, but that probably has more to do with the accuracy of one vs the other more than anything.

I think it was a full gauge. The purple wire hooks up to another wire on the panel that is a different color, don't remember which though.
