re: door panel trim
GENTLY pry it off. It is the chrome/painted ring you are talking about, it is held in place by spring clips. When you pry the ring away from the inner panel you will see the clips that clip into the back of the trim ring and fit into the holes in the inner door panel. The clips will usually stay in the door and the trim ring will flex and release from these clips. Gently pry around the trim ring. Is this what you are wanting?

Use something wide to pry with, like a painter's tool or a wide putty knife, so you don't gouge anything. I sometimes wrap a rag around it first.
