witch wire do i connect the light wire for the tach to on the light switch its a 71 f100

hmmm not sure on the color code but on my 67 it was a blue with a red stripe. Of course you could tie it into the brown wire that comes off the head light switch for the rear lights so that it comes on with the tail lights.

But if you want it to work with the dimmer for the dash lights you would have to tie it into the wire that goes to the dash lights. Not sure what color that is.

Maybe someone else will chime in
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

The dash lights get their power from the light switch dimmer control and then it goes to the fuse box through a 2 Amp fuse before going to the instrument panel. Here is a diagram for the 69 http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... s81-85.jpg it will be similar for your 71 but I think that the wire is Blue-Yellow.

I would connect it after the fuse so that it is being used for the tach light as well... :2cents:

i have mine atteched to the right of the fuse for the cluster lights with a male connector.

only comes on with the headlights.

if there is a safer way i'm open to learning it.

That's what I did, hooked it to the fused side of the instrument fuse. :thup:

all you have to do is hook the white wire for the tach to the fuse in the fuse box marked dash lights,it will come on with the parking lights and headlights and dim with the light switch
