FordMan is also curently working on a turn signal wiring so he is good info on this as well...
This is long and detailed...
Ok I think that is right on the Blue - Yellow for the horn…
So here is how I would go about this with just a test light for the turn signal issue (will get that first then move to the park light)…
To determine if the cab wiring is ok / bad or column (turn signal switch) is the problem do this...
Unplug the connector to the column and check the cab connector side wires…
1. With the key off, take your test light and check to see if any of the pins have power on them (only one should the Horn - Blue - yellow)
2. Turn the key on to "Run" position and check to see which pins now have power on them (Pin 44 should BLINK) This is the power for the turn signal from the turn blinker… There shouldn't be any power on any of the other wires at this time…
3. Press/hold the brake peddle down and check pin 810, it should now have power…
4. Turn the emergency flashers on and check pin 810, it should flash…
Ok make note on all that, but hopefully most of it should be good…
Now you can take a short piece of wire and strip the ends a little to use a jumper…
On this same connector on the cab side...
1. Connect this jumper from pin 810 (if it worked or you can use pin 44) and go to pin 3/50 and press on the brake peddle. The left front turn signal and the dash indicator should come on. (we know this one works so this is a good test of the procedure)
2. Connect this jumper from pin 810 to pin 2/49 and press on the brake peddle. The right front turn signal and the dash indicator should come on.
3. Connect this jumper from pin 810 to pin 282 (5) and press on the brake peddle. The right rear brake light should come on.
4. Connect this jumper from pin 810 to pin 283 (9) and press on the brake peddle. The left rear brake light should come on.
If any of these didn't work then there is a problem in the wiring in the cab side…
Now to check the switch in the column…
If all of the above worked plug the connectors back together and do the following…
1. As your left turn signal is working turn it on and check these pins…
Pin 44 should be blinking and pin 3 should be blinking, and pin 9 (283) should be blinking…
2. Turn on right turn and check these pins
Pin 44 should be on or blinking and pin 2 should have power or blink, and pin 5 (282) should have power or blink.
If there is nothing on pin 2 or 5 then there is a problem with the turn signal switch in the column…
(If you don't have anything on these pins check the other wires to see if you can find any that have power and move them to these pins) NOTE: leave the horn wires where they are as that is working...
3. Turn the turn signals off and push on the brake peddle and check these pins.
Pin 10 (810) should have power - pins 9 (283) and 5 (282) should also have power.
If either of these pins 9 or 5 doesn't have power then there is a problem with the turn signal switch in the column…
(If you don't have anything on these pins check the other wires to see if you can find any that have power and move them to these pins)
Let us know how this all goes...
If there is a problem with the turn signal switch you can remove the steering wheel and look at the switch and see if you can see any problem with the contacts (dirty or broken wires to them)…
You could also remove the connector from the wires and pull this switch out and replace it with the one out of the 70 column (if it was good) Then plug the wires back into the connector...
