Caliper bushings on 1972 F-250
New member here, couldn't find any good info on this, though. I've been rebuilding the front brakes on a 72 F250, and the new bushings on the anchor plate seem way too tight. ID is showing 7/16", but the caliper slide pins are 1/2. I got the first set on, but it took an exacto knife, hammer, and a few new curse words. How tight are these bushings supposed to be?

Re: Caliper bushings on 1972 F-250
Several months ago I had the exact same problem on a '71 F250. Thinking I got the wrong rubber thingies, I ordered new ones from a different manufacturer. Same exact problem as before.
I drilled out the holes slightly in the anchor plate, removed the metal cups from the rubber thingies, and epoxied the rubber thingies into the anchor plate.
So far, the brakes seem to work as they should. It's been a very long time since I've had such a simple, pleasant job turn into such a pain!
