Dennis Carpenter

Post by Busboy »

I'll never buy a firewall pad from Dennis Carpenter again. It doesn't even come close to fitting. For the price of it you would expect to not have to drill and elongate holes. Ridiculous! I'll try LMC next time. :x

I bought the ABS firewall pad from LMC. It fit perfectly. I don't recall having to drill or enlarge any holes.
Having said that, I work in a factory that makes parts for Honda automobile seats. (I set up and operate a 300 ton capacity stamping press.) Much of the quality of the parts depends upon the quality of the operator. If you get a piece made by a good operator, no problems. If you get one made by someone who is only there for the paycheck on a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning, good luck.

It may not be DC's fault. You didn't mention what year truck you are working on BUT I had the same problem with the hood lacing (cowl to firewall rubber) My truck is a 69 and when I ordered one from DC, it didn't come close to fitting. So I took measurements and they told me that my truck was a 70. Since my Dad bought the truck brand new, I know it is a 69.

Since my Dad ordered the truck from Ford late in the 69 model year, low and behold after tremendous research, I found out that my original truck that's been in my family since new, has a 70 cab on it, Close to the end of the model year, all sorts of weird stuff happens on the assembly line.

I orderd a 70 cowl lacing and it fit perfectly.

You may want to do a litte research....could save you a lot of headaches.

There is no mistaking a 67 from any other year. It's a 67.

Something is wrong there, someone must've made an error in ordering or filling the order.
Dennis Carpenter reputation is about the best.

Give them a chance to make it right. They're good people and even good people have bad things happen in their business that they are not aware of.

I'm pretty sure all of the ABS firewall pads are the same manufacturer. That said, because you have a 67, get used to nothing fitting perfectly. I purchased an ABS firewall pad from LMC for my 67 Crew and it's very close, but the mounting holes were off quite a bit.

I bought the same one. Glad to see it fit ok. I'm not after a show truck anyway. Just wanted something there that looked reasonably decent.

Dennis Carpenter's customer service is a joke. I recently called them to request a specific part. They told me the part number that I should order. When I received the order, the part it was not the correct. When I called back to get the return authorization, Clay told me they did manufacture that part I was looking for and it was not in their catalog. I knew he was wrong, so I called back to talk to someone else. That next person said yes, they sell the part and gave me the correct part number. I tried to order the part on Cyber Monday and get a 10% discount, but the website was not working and the web site instructed me to call in the order. I gave the order to Sheila, but she said I could not receive a discount because I was not ordering through the website. I told her the web site was not working, she said several customers had previously explained that to her. But she still could not provide the discount. I asked to talk to a manager, the manager informed Sheila that the discount was also good on phone orders, Sheila told me “I guess I did not get the email”(Absolute truth, You can’t make this stuff up!) So, ordered the part. Guess what? Later found out they double charged me! When I called back to confirm they received the returned part and provided me credit, Clay denied the shipping refund because the part was ordered over the phone, even though Dennis Carpenter provided me the part number. IF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OF ANY IMPORTANCE TO YOU, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DENNIS CARPENTER.

This may have already been discussed somewhere but also be careful ordering cluster bezels... last I checked, they were not reproducing the correct 67/68 chrome bezel with ribbing in the black areas around the speedo and they were also going with the same 'one style fits all' motto on the woodgrain bezels. The dark burl is correct only for 70-72 and the '69 Ranger bezel should be the lighter teak woodgrain.

Yeah I found this also on the cluster I ordered. They claim to be all "original tooling" but their parts can be just as sketchy as the cheap suppliers.

I bought the ebay version. Its o.k. it was a little long on the passenger side and had to trim it some.
