Hello everyone,
I have a 1970 ford f250 and I'm having trouble with the taillights/turn signals. The brake lights work then sometimes when I signal both taillights go out and only one will come back on. It is pretty glitchy and sometimes it works fine...My signals are slow to come on as well.
I replaced the turn signal switch when I bought the truck...surely it didn't already quit me. What do you guys think? Could it be the four way flasher?
Thanks!

Re: Taillights & Turn Signals
Easy things first. Just went through something similar with my '74 Dodge Dart. Random taillight/brake light operation, sometimes they would, sometimes they wouldn't, but only the rear, the front were fine. After 4 hours of fiddling and testing, it turned out I had a rusty rear RH bulb socket. The slot that the little pins on the bulb slide in was fine but the "lock" dimple in the socket was rusty. Cleaned it up with needle nose pliers and a little ball of steel wool and they worked fine and glowed brighter than ever before. Replace the flashers anyway, it's cheap, easy and takes a variable out of the troubleshooting.
