Headlights and Turn signals.....

Post by WitchyPsycho2 »

Hello,
Im racking my head right now try to figure out why my headlights and everything dont work right.

The problem:
Left low beam doesnt work when on low beams
Left high beam works on high beams, but right high beam doesnt work.

Fixes i have tried:
New headlight switch
New dimmer switch
Changing grounds, cleaning grounds,
New headlights
Different wiring harness connectors (from a truck that they all worked on)

I am not sure where to even start now. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on here? All my rear lights work fine.

The fuse isnt blown and the wiring harness is completely unmodified.

Thank You for Your Time

So only the right low beam works and only the left high beam works? You're also having problems with your turn signals?

The headlight problem and turn signal problems could very well be separate issues. You said that both headlights are new? Did you test the headlights on a battery or charger before you installed them? Just because they're new doesn't mean they are good. If the headlights are good then I would be suspicious of the wiring to the headlights. Can you check the color of the headlight wires against a circuit diagram?

Everything before the dimmer switch, including the switch, appears to be working or else you wouldn't have any headlights and you wouldn't be able to select between high and low beam. So, if there is a problem it seems it should be between the firewall and the headlights.

You could have a look at the dimmer switch connector to make sure all the wires are still attached. Check from there forward to the headlight connectors for broken wires. If you have 12 Volt test light you can probe the wires, first with the low beams on and then with the high beams on, to see if at some point along the harness you no longer have power in a wire.

I hope this helps. :)

Almosy sounds like wired in plug to headlights are reversed.
