3G 1 wire swap

Post by maverick600 »

Sorry guys I dont mean to beat a dead horse but some of the posts on here about this subject just seem to die off so I am going to ask the question and hope to get the right answers.

I just got a 71F100. It has a 360 in it if that actually matters but from what I have read it does matter if it has a light or a gauge, mine has the ALT light. SO a little back story, I got the truck running today and decided to take her for a spin when I noticed that the ALT light was on. Previous to the test drive when I had it running at the station I did take off the + side terminal to see if it would stay running and it did. So after the test drive I started looking around and noticed that there was only a wire going to the battery side of the alt and a ground wire from the battery to a post on the back of the alt as well and thats it. The alt is a ac delco alternator. What I am looking for is the correct way to install this so my light will work correctly and so also the alt will charge correctly.

Thank you in advance.

Need to know what alternator you have to make recommendations. Are you trying to get your stock one to work or upgrade to a 3g alt?
