I'm sure some if not many of you have converted your wimpy dim sealed beam lights over to a modern halogen replaceable bulb headlight like this:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/upd-a5023-3/overview/
any models/brands you've used and liked? that one there is only 16 bucks and you can put an 80/100w hella bulb in it.. holy crap!
summit lists about 5-10 different models that use H4 bulbs and are less than 30 each. any suggestions?

Re: Halogen non-sealed-beam conversion lights
I actually replaced my dim old lights with some new lights from the ebay. Like the ones listed under ( 7" ROUND PROJECTOR CONVERSION HEADLIGHTS CRYSTAL LAMPS ). There ok and very bright compared to what I had before. They have a blue hue to them like the beemers and look pretty cool. there a bit thicker at the glass seam so you'll need slightly longer screws to sit them in the cups right. But they plugged right in with no issues.

Re: Halogen non-sealed-beam conversion lights
A while back I put a set of cheap auto pal h4 conversions in and they were night and day difference and the was with just the lower wattage bulb. I got the higher bulbs also but never swapped them in cuz I was waiting to put in my upgraded headlight harness from 390nut I believe was his user name. The housings i got also had a running light provision that was kinda neat. Any of them will be a vast improvement over the stockers 4 sure!
The Hellas HIO listed look like a pretty sweet deal and a reputable brand 4 sure.

If you do upgrade your headlights please buy/make a wiring harness so that they pull juice from the battery, through a relay and not from the standard headlight switch.
Something like this is all over ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HID-Xenon-Conve ... f4&vxp=mtr
The factory wiring and headlight switch is not made for the juice that HID/H4/Higher watt halogen bulbs will draw. Please do your homework on this to avoid fires.
I bought one of these for my 71 Charger.

Re: Halogen non-sealed-beam conversion lights
awesome, nice to see some responses.
i've got a whole new electrical panel and underhood harness that i'm (slowly but surely) working on, with a high amp bus bar and screw terminals, relays, and all that fun stuff. i've also got an air compressor and high-current recepticle, RV 12v supply, and a couple other accessory circuits i'm going to add. Along with a direct connection for the 3G alternator.
those hellas are pretty tempting, i wonder how limited supply they are at that price. By the time you factor in shipping and everything else, they are less than twice the price of cheapos and having better hardware/waterproofing alone is probably worth the extra $30.
