Battery Charging Troubleshooting Tips????

Post by LaHoota71 »

After my last dead battery experience I replaced my voltage regulator and alternator. I hooked the battery back up (which I had charged a week ago) and started it right up. Problem solved, right...wrong. I drove around for a bit (with the lights on), pulled back up to the house, shut it down, turned the key and nothing. I initially assumed that the battery would be good since it held a charge for a week, am I foolish to assume this? Any troubleshooting tips or things to check (and recommended ways to check them) would be greatly appreciated.

First, check both the battery cables very careful for corrosion. Clean all 4 cable ends well and after charging the battery try starting the truck again.

If no start, the easiest way is take your truck with battery to store from which you bought battery and have them check the battery and charging system.

A battery can be bad from the store.

Thanks bluef250. Battery tested good, bought a new ground cable and I'm back in business.
