turn signal cancel

Post by abyars111 »

I recently replace my turn signal switch and it worka great now. Next thing I'd like to tackle is why they don't self cancel. It seems I'm missing something in my column that cancels them, maybe a dowel in the wheel, I see an emtpy hole. I've looked at the assembly manual and can't figure it out. Mabye I'm missing an additional cam or somthing.

How should the turn signals cancel?

Yes, there is a metal dowel that goes in the hole and sits between the two plastic arms of the turn switch. When you turn your blinker on, you can see where that dowel would hit the arm to turn it off when it comes back around. You can probably find a screw or something to put in the hole that would work as a replacement. It just needs to be the right length to be able to hit the arms and turn the switch off when the wheel turns back.

Thanks. I wondered what that hole was for when I reassembled it. I will rig something up.
