Airguide

Post by Elkgrovemichael »

I have an old Airguide tach I wanted to put in my bump. The wires coming from the tach are red, blue, green and white. Does anybody know which goes where? Thanks. :help:

Red=typically the switched hot from the ignition switch or other source
Green=typically the negative side of the coil
White=typically the dash lighting source which will light the tach when you switch on your lights
Blue=seems odd that it would use this color as a ground? I'd first try to hook up the three wires above and ground any metal on the tachometer to a chassis ground and see if it works.

I believe the Airguide tachs are from or were used in old boats. I have read that some folks have used them in their old cars, but not sure how that worked really as I heard someone once say he took a Stewart Warner sending unit and modified it to make the unit work, but it was some time ago at a car show I heard this so my memory could be off.
