Radio connection on a 67

Post by Youngfordkid »

hello all,

just wondering where or if there even is a place to hook up a radio into a the standard cab factory harness. the reason is due to me wanting the radio to shut off when the ignition is off, but still working in acc, and run position. if not, i am currently using the spade connection on the side of the fuse block.

thanks in advance

There is, because mine does, but I don't know how offhand. Let me look in my books and see if I can find the diagram. However, my books are 71, which while a lot of mechanicals pretty much carry over, I'm not sure if the wiring is the same as in a 67, so hopefully someone with the 67 books, or who has done this before can chime in.

Ok, I just looked in my manuals (72 btw) and there are no wiring diagrams I could find for the F series trucks, just the L series. Having said that, it should be a matter of connecting your radio to the same circuit the accessory circuit for your ignition is on.

Found a set of diagrams here too, perhaps these will help (Is there anything Fordification doesn't have? :D) http://www.fordification.com/tech/schematics_h.htm

well i hunted through those, and still nothing. i guess i will consult with my friend who has all the manuals. i wouldnt be suprised if there is not a place to hook it up other than the fuse block.

thanks

It is the pin (threaded thingy) sticking out of the back of the ignition switch...

You would probably want to install an inline fuse where you hooked that wire onto.
Rather than melt down the wiring harness in your truck when the wire shorts out.
