F600 Panel chosen

Post by f100ranger1969 »

After a few years of sitting on this entire poject I am getting back into the fray again and hope to have my 69 Ranger done this spring, funds permitting of course.

I have wanted an F600 cluster to put in for a while and found several in various conditions in local yards over the last few years. I found one this spring in a maybe 1970 bump flatbed. This truck was in awesome shape and the interior was mint. The cluster was the painted style but was so nice that it inspired me to use it as is in my Ranger. The only exception is that I changed out the actual gauges for the older style numerics as I like the more classic look. I also have a weathered tach that matched but I would have to cut to install. However I am liking the Auto Meter Prestige Series for a classic looking tach instead, plus it would be more functional than the 4000 RPM F600.

I also plan on adding a flasher switch and 1966 flasher indicator that originally mounted in the panels of the pre-bump trucks. Will get more pics of those parts.

This panel though, with a light polish, shined up like new.

These are the gauges originally in the panel, the newer style. I am going to utilize this housing to put the older style gauges in as this housing is MUCH cleaner, I just hope its as easy as swicth as it looks.

That's a beautiful gauge panel. Great find!

What an awesome score on such a pristine panel.
The F600 panel is so versatile IMO and there are many of us who have done the switch and many threads here from which to pull help from.

I spent over an hour reading up on the subject! I found an NOS speedometer to replace the one in this cluster. I wanted to start with zero on the odometer even though the mileage is exempt, it is legally titled with 135,000 original miles.
