Thinking about swapping New Process 4 spd for C6

I am finding that it is sorta a hassle shifting and not using 1st gear around town.

Also, I don't care for the pedal height of the brake and clutch. It seems too high for my preference.
I am considering changing to an automatic - maybe a C6.

Has anyone done something similar?

What are the pros and cons?

pro of c6 = not having to shift, hold your coffee while driving

pro of 4spd= little more power and mpg's, easier to rebuild, lighter, granny gear for those who need it, anti theft device for half of teens
I have a c6 truck and a 4spd truck and that's how i see it.

I've had both. Right now I have the C-6 and it's nice but, I dread the day it ever goes out cuz I don't know s**t about automatics and it's gonna cost plenty to fix. I've always thought if mine ever poops out, I'm gonna replace it with a rock crusher (4 spd)!

The 4 spd (effectively a 3 spd cuz ya rarely use 1st gear) I had never let me down and is still going strong hauling junk, even though the truck itself is slowly returning to it's natural, organic state one body panel at a time.

Seems like a downgrade to me, but that's just my opinion.

Personally I would be leaning towards keeping the 4 speed I may be a bit biased in this situation though since I have one :lol:. But with the 4 speed it's far easier to rebuild, more capable when it comes to towing or if you find yourself stuck somewhere granny-low usually pulls through for you, also you get better gas mileage with the 4 speed, and if you keep your 4 speed you don't have to worry about swapping transmissions in the 1st place. Advantages to the C6 are that you don't have to shift and that's about all I can think of really :doh:. Hope that helps you make your decision :thup:!

There's nothing difficult about rebuilding a C6.
I say go for the C6. Manual trans is a PITA to drive in SoCal traffic.

Yup on what BobbyFord says.... Im thinking of doing the same swap to mine! In So.Cal traffic sucks BIG time and add a bad back to the situation and BAM 2 reasons to off the 4 speed........ Anyone in So.Cal wanna trade your automatic set-up for my T18 4 speed set-up??

Another vote for the C-6 here, it's exactly what I'm doing.
I've drove 3 and 4 speeds for many years of my life, and in or near any city they aint' fun. :nono:
