locking up a 67?

i was looking at a 67 at the junkyard, there are no lock knobs? But has locks? Are the 67 different from all the other bump trucks?

Indeed they are different! On 1967 models, you lock the doors by pushing forward on the same lever that's used to open them, if I remember correctly. So the handle you use to open the door (from the inside) is the same handle you use to lock 'em up!

yes it's true. . up = open and down = locked on the inside door handle. I love me some '67 f100 trucks! There is no "push pull" thingy like "normal" vehicles. The other way to lock up your truck I suppose would be to use the key although I am not 100% sure on this. Push down on the inside lever and simply close the door. It is locked.

My grandmother's '64 chevy you had to hold the button in on the outside door handle or the "pop-up" thingy would pop up and the door would not lock when you closed the door. I don't think our fords are the same though. just FYI.

Yes they are differant. I dont Know if it is meant to work like dolinick said about pushing lever forward and simply closing the door? On my 67 it dont work that way. I also love me some '67 f100 trucks! Right on dolinck...

yes, up opens it and down locks it. I told you 67's were the cooliest.

Nope. Our trucks have to be locked by the key from the outside. It guarantees you never lock yoru keys in the cab!

none of our trucks can be locked without the key from the outside.and i couldnt figure out how to modify the door mechinism to make it happen either. that was on the 68-72 latches though. i think the 67 latches are pretty close to the same though.

Nope wrong there fellow 385 powered friend. My 71 can't be locked without a key from the outside. Been driving her for some 35 years and never locked the keys in her.
