Any one on here have any tractors?

Post by cbfomoco »

First off if you have any tractors post up some pictures, cause tractors and trucks go together right? The other part of this is that I am tractor shopping. I have been heavly leaning towards a New Holland as well I likely bled Blue. Anyway I have been complaiting a New Holland TC 45. It is a 2001-2003 model, with a loader, 4x4, after market fully closed cab, and low hours ( a little over 450) It also has the shuttle shift manual trans. I hope to go look at it Sat. Does anyone have a TC45 or close and how do you like it? Any problems out of them? This is a big investment for me and I dont want to get something that is going to cause me nothing but head aches unless I am planning on it. Thanks

Dad has a TC29 4x4 hydro with a woods loader. Decent tractor, only real problem has been the fender controls seize up on occasion from rust and the main hydraulic hose blew apart.

I have a '55 MF T035 in a gazzilion peices with a matching factory loader, trying to get a '58 MF 50

lol, I'll have to get some pics for ya.

TO20 (for sale)
TE20
TO35 (yup, that dern standard diesel) (for sale)
MH 40 with 200 Loader
MH 50A that with loader (will be taking duty call from the MH 40 as soon as I get the steering done)
MF 35
IH 1066
JD 50 (for sale)
JD 1938 M wide steer "poppin john"
JD 1929 D smooth steels and double wide rear (unstylized D) Brass plate, brass primers and brass carb (for sale, but asking high and hoping to keep. lol)
Ford 1910 (for sale)
MF 1155 (think I've got it sold)

LOL that's the runners that aren't in repair or resto atm

Past that, I've got a few in repair / resto and several that are only owned to flip.

If you want later model, I suggest MF and Kubota. If you're willing to move a little further back in time, I'd suggest FORD, IH, MF, MH.

I'm a full time tractor man and I'm not getting into snobery here, but were you a customer, I'd say "steer clear of NH and Long". That said, I sell NH and Long, but as the mechanic that has to work on them, I can tell you with honesty that they are not exactly the top of the litter.

I would look at a new Kubota that seems to be what all the small acre people have and haven't heard anything bad of them. I have heard a few horror stories about some of the New Hollands. If memory serves me correctly NH is now owned by CaseIH and their parts seem to be spendy. Or you can spend lots of money and get green paint.

P.S. I have about 35 tractors.

A friend of mine let me use his Kubota to do some work around my acreage this summer. It worked very well, had the backhoe attachment which was very handy!!

A friend gave me a 1983 Ford 1900 diesel 4x4 about a month ago. Sat for 3-5 years in the weather, I took it on the understanding the engine was siezed, there were major problems with it. I drained 2 gallons of water from the pan. I pumped .7 liters of water from a 1.4 liter engine through the glowplug holes (that's full for you non-math types). I filled it with rotella, put a new filter on it, cleaned the oil bath air cleaner, retrofitted a denso 2KW reduction starter from a 2.2L Kubota and with 30 seconds of glowplug it fired right off.

The engine hadn't siezed (amazingly), but it was hydrolocked and the tractor was given up on because it was thought the crank had been broken trying to pull start it. Not the case, after I fired it up I split the tractor to find the clutch in many small pieces, exploded in the bellhousing. It burned 1/2 quart every 6 hours of use for the first week. As it's hard to really work one of these buggers I hooked onto a friends 1 ton dually and pulled it in 11th gear, full throttle up a steep grade in the road close to my shop. The engine no longer smokes or burns oil.

By far and away the easiest, simplest diesel 4x4 tractor I've ever had the pleasure to work on, more power than it should have for it's size (27HP) and great hydraulics. These tractors were built by Shibaura (Perkins), but well supported by Ford and New Holland. They have some shortcomings (no power steering is hard getting used to), but thier ruggedness and simplicity make up for it to me.

A friend has a near new 30HP hydrostatic kubota that I've used a good bit and is very nice to use, very quiet running. If I were to buy new I would choose one of these.

I own a few tractors. My favorite and the one that gets worked the most is IH 1568. I also have a restored Oliver 1955 4wd, a few more IH units (two 444s and a 504), a Ferguson 30, John Deere models B O and R, and an Alice Chalmers model M crawler.

I inherited all of those from Granddad when he passed.

I have a "38 Allis Chalmers "B"
Hand crank start.

I learned how to use a clutch with this one ,
If you stall it you have to climb off, walk up front and crank it again.

I have a 1946 Cockshutt 99 here for sale. New sleeves and pistons and all new bearings in transmission. Belt pulley, generator, electric start, new magneto, home built cab and Char-Lynn hydraulics. That's the good news. Intake is shot and engine is stuck but I keep diesel fuel poured into the sparkplug holes. I would post pics but haven't quite figured out that until my computer geek comes home for the weekends. I sent a pic of my Edsel to the "Avatar" thread but I guess that got lost too.

Up here we have a 1995 NH 9030 bidirectional and a 03 NH TV 145 bidirectional. The 9030 has a bucket with a round bale grapple and its the most used tractor on the place, I am in it everyday. The TV 145 could use some more power but with a 13.5 foot discbine mower you can mow at 8mph in a smooth field. Both are great products in my opion.

None here on 'hell's half acre' but there's a David Brown 1210 and a Farmall 'M' next door.

A few years back, a buddy was looking for a small tractor. Found that under around 40hp are all made in China now. Looked at some overpriced used import Fords(Korea?) and bought a Jinma 984. Saved a few thousand $$$ off the price of a more familiar name(Kubota, for one) and a couple thou' more by skipping the dealer prep and getting it in the crate. seems to work ok.

looks a little different with the rollbar and FEL on.
