Speedmaster intakes?

Hey guys, have a question for you..Just had my 390FE rebuilt bored .30 over.... my question is it worth putting on a StreetMaster intake that I have inherited?
Seems to be in real good shape. My 390 still has the cast iron original intake and a 2 barrel carb. I do have a nice 4 barrel Holley to add to it. I know nothing of the Streetmaster intakes...are they good or bad ? Would it increase my performance is it worth adding?
Let Me know what you think, by the why what is this intake worth..do they still make them?

i'm sure putting a 4 bbl on any engine would give more performance. also a 4 bbl is better on gas if you keep your foot out of the secondariers.

Did some looking on the web. Australia keeps comming up when I look for Speedmaster. You might try to post on the Holman Ford forum there. Maybe someone there has an answer . I also thought maybe Moon Eyes Equipment. They had something like that, but I didn't see anything on the site. Who knows, maybe you have the last one on earth . Just joking . Ok,,,now that we know what its called and who makes it...does anyone have anything to say about it? Good,bad or indifferent?

If its just sitting around collecting dust, I say throw it & the 4bbl on!!

Only one way to find out if its any good ya' know!!

If this link works it gives some history. made in 1974-- under 5000 rpm use--early Torker design..made for heavy veich...

If it fits use it. It can't hurt anything. It may even improve mileage. Is it a spread bore ie: for a quadrajet carb

If it's a single plane Streetmaster you will lose a little low-end grunt, but gain a little on the top side (if your cam doesn't quit first).

Thanks to all who responded about the Streetmaster..btw the thread worked and it doesn't seem to be the bargain I thought it was....then again we are dealing with 30 yr old technology The money I have sunk into this resto I should just buy one of those shiny new intakes...any suggestions to bring my 390 to life?

That is a broad request. Here is what I would do to have a little grunt and retain good daily driving.
Asumptions: 9 to 1 comp--heads in good shape--minimum 350 rear gear-- auto or man trans--power brakes.
dual plane 4 brl, manifold 0 to 5500 rpm
approx 600 cfm vaccum secondaru carb( holly ro carter)
hydraulic cam with no more than 270* advertised duration and about 220 to 225* at 50-- and springs
Good timing chain, roller chain maybe
headers--nothing fancy
Pertronics or similar ignition to replace points in your stoch distributor
new oil pump, stock type

I think that would do it for me Good luck on the project!
