The in cab fuel tank just isn’t going to work so the Bronco tank it is.
I know that in 1969 Ford would have just poked a hole in the side panel and stuffed a filler neck there, but I have to believe that there was dedicated but suppressed engineer who tried to introduce the concept of a fuel door to the big bosses who probably laughed at him.
A fuel door it is.
Before cutting the bronco bedside, I marked the fuel door location on the saved panel.

Ended up moving the door down about 1 1/2” to stay out of the bump, and back about an inch to not crowd the wheel opening on the outside and the wheel house on the inside.
Staying below the bed seam keeps any fume seepage out of the cabin.

I used the flanging tool on the bedside to create a recess for the door panel to fit flush

Ready for welding (after I grind off a little more paint)
Getting close to setting the top on for a look see!!!

Yep, its gotta have a politically correct tailgate. The 69’ style with the 78’ fit and function and roll up glass. I can do it some how.

I do have some ideas for color, every week I see a new idea though.
It will most likely be a two tone, fiberglass top a semi gloss black and the all “Ranger” moldings put back on.
The three bed moldings for each side will have to be shortened. That will be fun!
Thanks all for the nice comments.
