I haven't had a chance to get back to it, and probably won't be able to until next week. A friend at work said to make sure I had 12V on the positive coil lead; if not, I probably didn't get my ballast resistor bypassed (or I have another electrical gremlin to chase down).

Someone on a Ford Mustang group had a similar problem. Pertronix tech support told him to make sure the top of his ignitor module was lined up with the top of his magnet; otherwise, the ignitor won't "see" the magnets. He ended up putting a spacer underneath the magnet, and life was good. Not sure why they wouldn't line up; that's great QC on the part of Pertronix.

Anyway, I still have a few things to check, but not enough time. I'll definitely report back as I make progress.

Thanks,

Joseph

I got it!

I had five minutes to check things tonight. Got out with the voltmeter, turned on the ignition, and measured the (+) pole on the coil. 12.3V. Couldn't get better than that. Popped off the dizzy cap, and saw that the magnet level was below the ignitor level. Raised it to the same level. Turned the key. Zoom! The engine started right away. Still runs rough (expected, since I need to replace plug wires), but it ran!

Ya-hoo!

Thanks, everyone! Gotta go!

Exactly! I sill have to make my patches into permanent mods, but now I know it will work, rather than wondering if I should have cut the red wire, or the blue ...

Thanks again, everyone, for the tips, pointers, and moral support. It was all greatly appreciated.
