Well.... just got an email from my friend that was interested in those... here's his response... for what it's worth..
"The Truck Lite replacement is a plastic piece of crap, and the mounting base is turned the wrong way. I put a month at least into checking out these lights, even got ahold of the original manufacturer and they aren't made any more. You can only find them on Ebay. I went through all of the outlets, interchanging all of the numbers, hoping that someone would have some new old stock, but no luck. I wish he was right.

Steve"

I don't know what else to say..... I copied the parts numbers right from your post... :hmm:

dot says somethingabout having three marker light on the vehicle if the truck or trailer is over 96" wide. ..
................

Here in TX, you are supposed to have those if the
bed is 80 inches or wider. My 68 has a utility bed,
and it's 80 inches, or slightly wider. Soo..My truck
has a clearance light on each side of the cab roof,
and also running lights on the bed. Yellow on the
lower front of the bed, and red at the rear corners.
Needless to say with all those, and the sets of rear
tail lights I have, it's like a xmas tree at night..
But actually, I think it looks kinda cool... Probably
looks like a big truck head on from a distance.
As far as I know, here in tx, only two cab clearance
lights are actually required, and thats all I have.
Course, I often see some with 3-5 lights. Mine are
the basic clearance lights with a teardrop looking
shape. You can get those at most any auto parts.
The ones icabean have are totally different from
mine. It's kinda funny. The first year I had my truck
and got it inspected, the guy mentioned the 80 inch
rule, and said my lights were required. But the last
few years I've had a different guy doing the inpection,
and he seems to could care less, and hasn't even
mentioned it...

Were these an after market "add-on"? How would I go about taking them off and filling in the holes so it doesn't leak?
Thanks,

1st Take your head liner down and just unscrew them.
and to plug the holes in 1970 The one tonnes some times came with little rubber plugs If they didn't have roof markers. I got some a while ago to replace some on my truck I used Motormite line available at your parts jobber stores You know the rack that says help on little red packages. Use some liquid teflon to seal the plugs
Or weld them up.
WHAT ?
