But i thought the problem was that a stereo won't work with a single speaker setup. Or did you run that with an older radio?
No, mine has a stock AM. I have a couple of stock AM/FM's and when I stick one of those in I will go to the two speaker set up, like you are doing.

Thanks! Checking the site out now... they do have bumpside replacement dual speakers that go in the original dash spot!
One problem though, is they don't list the price, and i have a feeling it might be a bit out of my range, i guess i have to call!

This would do the trick right? "dual voice coil" For bumpsides, i'm assuming it's a direct swap in..

This is a custom autosound, like mentioned in last couple replies.

Yes! That is the type you want, it has both channels hooked into it and is set up to use the larger one for the base and the two smaller ones for the stereo channels it is all setup internally just hook right and left wires from your stereo to it.

If you look closely at the speaker magnet in that thread, the manufacturer is Custom Autosound.

Tested my stereo on a buddies spare set of Fonix speakers, stereo works! And he gave me the speakers...
So now i have 2 good speakers and my stereo that still works. I was going to put the speakers in the kick panels (with carpet covering kick panel/speaker perimeter) but when i went to mark the drivers side kick panel to know where to cut the hole, i realized i forgot about the air vent thats there so i can't fit a speaker there nicely.

Question. Can I use my original in dash speaker paired with one totally different speaker? Then i'd have the original speaker in the dash hooked up with the new speaker in the passenger kick panel.
Can i do this? I'd like to get everything done tomorrow. Can't find any other place to put the second speaker.

Im not the wise guy on tunes in vehicles but seeing how my new Dodge Ram has 6 speakers factory an my little bro hooked up two extra speakers in his 95 XJ i dont see how it would be a problem. you could always call a local stereo shop an ask them a quick Q
