Re: How do you roll back an Odometer?
Hello Calfdemon
Thunderfoot helped me with mine. Follow his directions. Once I removed the pin and cogs, I then took a piece of masking tape and taped the the numbers to the position I wanted. Then you can replaced the red cogs one at a time and not loose the numbers position. Once the pin is in place remove the tape.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I am currently trying to solve my own speedometer troubles. I had no trouble matching up my new-old odometer, just remove that pin.
Is this just for the f600 gauges? My f250 odometer will turn back when I drive backwards!fordman wrote:you can't go backwards only forwards.

My family had a 73' Pinto that did the same thing. You could actually take miles off the speedo by driving it backwards-ask me how I know!My f250 odometer will turn back when I drive backwards!

I have dissaembled two different odometers and reassembled and they functioned normally. I don't recall it being overly complicated.

Re: How do you roll back an Odometer?
I have done this as well. I like to start my old trucks at zero when I rebuild them just for kicks. Did it on a 72, have not done my 67 yet. When I sell I just sell as mileage unknown.Thunderfoot wrote:Yes you can reset the odometer! I did it with mine. You have to drive the pin out that is holding those red gears, once removed you can roll the numbers. It takes a little playing with to get them lined up again so the red gears mesh up right so the alignment of the numbers looks right.

In this state, tampering with a odometer can get you a big fine & if you're a registered car dealer you can draw some time down at the farm.

Claim mileage unknown and you are fine.
