It can't be used with the heated spacer, and if the ambient air temp gets below 50 degrees with high humidity, I have one heck of a time with carb icing, even with a factory air cleaner/heat stove setup.
Funny My Stang never had that problem but then again the manifold was tuned for the 390 in my stang.

Oh and it is worth way more than scrap weight to quite a few people.

1850 is probably the single most common Aftermarket Holley, 600CFM vacuum secondary. -2 is the second revision so it is pretty old.

I would say $75.00-150.00 for the pair depending on how bad someone wants it...

-2 does not mean second revision on a Holley. It denotes a specific version. In this case the -2 is Chevy/universal linkage and manual choke. The first 1850 came out in the late 1950's and was a stock carb for Mercury cars. It was so popular that it eventually became the universal carb we have now. When you find an old 1850 with a long number above it that looks something like 5752426 you have found an original Merc carb! There have been a ton of revisions to the 1850 and so now the newer ones look nothing like the originals. They have different float bowls, chokes, throttle linkage etc... I believe they come in 6 versions so on newer ones you will see 1850-1 -2 -3 etc... and each dash number denotes how the linkage and choke are configured. A -2 is no older than the mid 1970's. I double checked my 1973 holley books and they are not listed but they do show in the 1984 catalog. Older carbs back into the 1970's/60's/50's will just say 1850 and back then they were all the same except you could specify manual or automatic choke (the OEM ones were automatic). This carb is much newer both because it has -2 and also because it has a 4 digit date code 3455 which means it was made in 75, 85 or 95 (Holley did not use 4 digit dates in 65 and the 2005 version looks different so I know it isn't 2005!). I would also not get too excited about value as the -2 does not sell for much. On eBay the going rate seems to be around $75 for a very clean ready to use carb and a carb like yours sells for 15-35 ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0418369507 as an example, there are a lot more). These actually only cost about $250 from Summit brand new and MSRP is about $280: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-0-1850C/. AS far as the intake is concerned, the S does not add to its value and does not really mean anything. The S was added to 1966-1970 4V intakes except for the CJ/PI and the 69 390 IP (S code). It is design version and all intakes are the same even if the S isn't on it (very few). This myth came about because in teh mid 60's and early 70's they were not as common in the secondary market (the cars were still too new) and so the comparison was against older 4V intakes. The S version is better than say a 1963 4V but now there are so many of them floating around that they have little value unless you have somebody restoring a car and looking for a date correct part (and then prices can go nuts but most rarely bring more than $50:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0497351507 ). Hope this helps and clears up a little misinformation, Hawkrod

It is a battle of semantics... Call it version or revision or model or whatever you like. A - 2 is old... As for how old, there is a date code there too, but if you go buy a new one today it sure won't be a -2...

I am sorry but you are mistaken it is not semantics and yes, you can go buy an 1850-2. The -2 notes what equipment the carb is equipped with not how old it is. When I noted version I was being specific and maybe you misunderstood what I meant. Each of the dash versions are different from each other in configuration. The differences can be subtle but they exist. It can be something as silly as the newest versions that do not have an adjustable needle and seat (-6) or it can be throttle linkage or choke style. You will not find this info on Summit but if you go to a Holley distributor you can order it by spec (or at least you could before the recent changes and moving production). Hawkrod

Picture of more current 1850-2, note different main body, plastic choke and secondary diaphragm parts and hex bolts on the bowls:

O.K. we are going to agree to disagree. You believe I'm mistaken, I believe you are arguing about semantics...

This will be my (and your) last post related to the list numbers.

The carb (and the intake for that matter) is quite common and not worth a great deal...

EDIT: I guess we aren't going to agree to disagree, I'm done with it though.
