It's NOS.
This is an obsolete part number, and through my contacts I checked and found out this is the only Ford dealership in the US that has one.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Re: 3 speed manual w/ overdrive....SWITCH?
The guy I spoke with could not cross reference the part for me. He told me that I have to trust the part number that I was told. So, I hope it's right. It was quite expensive.
Again.....thanks for all your help. I will take pictures of it when I get it and will let ya'll know how it goes.

That price is outrageous!
I'll just be happy if it is the right part and everything works perfect.....(high hopes).
The owner said go with it....he wants his grandfathers truck back home and like new. If you want to see before and after pics, I posted them under the newbie thread/welcome mat.

Re: 3 speed manual w/ overdrive....SWITCH?
Ok.....good news and bad news. This is the right switch. Bad news is that the solenoid went out on me. I tested the solenoid to 12v and it worked when I took the R11 apart to change the seals, but it's not working now. I've taken it apart, and it seems that the wire going to the coil inside has broke. I've bypassed that wire and the coil is shorted. .15 Ohms, so I need to replace the solenoid now.
Any idea on that part number and where to get it?
Here's the pic that I promised of the new switch:

Here's the pic of the inside of the solenoid:

I've got my friend checking on it for you.
Best I can determine, it should be C8TZ 6916-A.

Re: 3 speed manual w/ overdrive....SWITCH?
Good thing is that the fuse on the relay assembly was blown after taking the truck for a ride.
I then got under the truck and bypassed the speed sensor by just tapping the wire to ground and that's when I realized there was a dead short in the circuit somewhere. After that, I tried to apply 12v directly to the solenoid in place and it did not move. That's when I took it out from the O/D and took it apart....No telling how long it's been since the overdrive worked in this truck.

On Dennis Carpenter's website, he shows a 8A-6916-C. What would that overdrive solenoid be for?
