Re: 70 Custom--The Fun Begins 9/16 back to the frame
Well I'm gonna try to leave my frame in the shop this winter and work around it(being how thats where the deer get cut up and the plow gets stored)the best I can. I may have score both a tranny(top loader) and a locking rear for her And there some rust issues to contend with----that didn't turn out so well the first time Pic's to come

Re: 70 Custom--The Fun Begins 9/16 back to the frame
Well maybe it's a good thing this has taken so long----not happy with the first coat of Chassis Saver
And here's brand new caliper rustin to hell
So then I figured that I might as well break the shackles apart
And on to the rearend
and after a good bath in PurplePower and a good pressure washing
So plan's are sandblast rearend and shackles---powdercoat to follow
Scrub and sand down frame ---second coat with
On a good note(least to me---it's free) have recieved a Detroit locker /3.50gears

Well since that post I 've powdercoated the rearend and brake drums but sprayed the shackle parts and recoated frame with Xo rustoliumFordnatic wrote:Nice job. I'm looking forward to more updates!
waiting on my(scatterbrained) buddy to figure out which rearend he wants to part with---he has the locker and also has a couple of posi ---one with 4:11 gears
So I'm stuck until I can put the rearend back together---it's alot easier to move with wheels

Re: 70 Custom--The Fun Begins 9/16 back to the frame
Just rebuilt my 1st rear end...9'trac lock. So now I need to press off (never changed them the 1st time)my axle bearing and install new ones. Then I can start to put the rear end assembly back on the frame. Pic's coming

Re: 70 Custom--The Fun Begins 9/16 back to the frame
Jerry, be careful with that man! I'd had bearing retainers fly across the shop tryin' to press them off before! Also wound up torching them off one time on my 76' EB. They can be stubborn. So now I need to press off (never changed them the 1st time)my axle bearing and install new ones.
Did ya'll get the storm up there? Bet the grankids loved it!
