A/M fuel gauge help

Post by gonzalo medina »

I am set on buying an after market fuel gauge by auto meter. How many ohms or volts are required to run this set up on our trucks, mine is a 72. Ditching original gauge, how is this set up wired.

"Are you gonna make it all 220?"
"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."

I new this wasn't going to be easy  In the tech tutorial it mentioned to use the 73 ohms/8-12 ohms right? I got the part number for the correct auto meter gauge to buy but the wiring is whats killing me. Once I buy it you have to test you fuel sending unit to adjust the gauge to the matching settings correct?????????????? How would this apply to simply buying a new sending unit? Shouldnt the new units come with the stats of ohms it's equiped with? I sure am twisted

Why not try to fix whatever is wrong with the stock gauge? There's nothing inherently wrong with them, my gauges have been working flawlessly going on 12 years now.

You almost make me want to give it another shot for the third time. I hear a bunch of bad talk about them being off always.
