trailer wiring
Has anybody wired their truck for a trailer with a flat 4 connector? I'm needing any help that you all can give as to what wires/color/tracer on the truck you tapped into.

I have done mine, but is has been a long time ago. I used a volt/amp meter and a striaght pin and jabbed the wire to find the correct ones. If I remember right it was pretty simple task.

There are several other sites. One bit of advice is not to use connectors that clamp onto a wire. While easier and quick, they just do not seem to work as well as crimped and soldered connectors. The guillotine conenctors tend to loosen from vibration and then you have intermittent connections. Also, they break the insulation allowing a route for corrosion.

re: trailer wiring
What's nice is the wires are the same color code.

Seriously? Brown to brown, yellow to yellow and so on? Could it really be that easy?68F250 wrote:What's nice is the wires are the same color code.

re: trailer wiring
Yep!
Brown to Brown - taillights
Green to Green - right stop and turn
Yellow to Yellow - left stop and turn (I think the truck's yellow wire has a black stripe)
Use the frame for your ground.
