This thread helped me out big time. only issue I ran into was pulling the new wire back through. it was a biotch as at the shift column housing it has to shift over through the slotted part. space between the column and shift column housing was pretty tight. I ended up pulling shift housing up and guiding wires through with my fingers.

I know this is an old thread, but sargentrs attachment above helps. Did not take the whole colum apart, just needed to swap out the turnsignal harness and mechanism and put on older style steering wheel on which means cutting off some of the top part of the shaft. I also cut down the nut so now the older wheels horn button work. I did all this while in the colum was in the truck, biggest pain was getting the collar and the shift collar back on the colum and everything lining up. Great write up though!!
