C7TZ-7A216-A Detent Plate for 1968 F-250

Post by 1968F250CAMPERSPECIAL »

Does anyone have a source for a Detent/Insert part# C7TZ-7A216-A ?
Maybe a work around like modifying another detent to make it work in a 68 F-250 w/C6?

Suggestions are appreciated.

Picture is only for reference and is of a similar Column Shift Detent for a 1965 Falcon -

Doubtful any of these from a boneyard would be much better than the one you're trying to replace.
I knew an old skool guy in SW Florida who was machining his own parts like this to restore Model-A and Model-T Fords-I wouldn't rule that out... :(

And you can also try Green Sales for an OEM NOS obsolete part like this:

Many Ford bumps / one 76' EB / and several dents through the years.

Thanks for the reply Jeff.
My detent is completely gone.

No luck at Green Sales, but I will keep checking with them monthly, thank you.

Read on another forum that a 79 detent plate may work if you do a little drilling?

"I recently installed the shift detent plate I pulled from a 79 Ford F250, and all I had to
do was gently file a tiny bit off of the right side of the plate for it to fit into the slot...
I'm talking a tiny bit. Works like a charm."

At this point i'm willing to try it!

Possible solution -

I purchased this detent that is made for 1973-1977 Broncos and it fits perfect.
Currently tracking down the two screws that hold it in place then i'll install to see if it works. Fingers crossed!

Hope someone reads this -
Since my detent is completely missing, I am not sure if the detent mounting hardware is a screw or nut and bolt? :help:

IIRC, the screws are countersunk head Phillips machine scews. I believe #6 or #8 fine thread about 1/4" long?

Sounds about right.
The mystery is that the holes that the screws are supposed to screw into are not threaded?

Sure about that? Mine were definitely threaded.
