Hi guys.. Since swapping to power brakes, my brake pedal seems higher off the floor. Can anyone tell me the height of theirs? ...Is it adjustable?
Thanks
Ron

Re: Brake pedal too high
My truck has power disk brakes on it from the factory, and my pedal is very high as well, hopefully someone can chime in on this to give us some relief. Here are three threads that talk about pedal height from the past:

Re: Brake pedal too high
My 71 F100 XLT with PB has an adjustment behind the pedal at the firewall. I adjusted the pedal height to bottom out about 1/2" before the floor and it matches the gas pedal height perfectly. My gas pedal is about 1/2" higher than stock too because I changed the linkage to fit the fuel injection manifold.

pcmdub, thanks for the reply. can you give a little more detail on how you adjusted it?pcmdub wrote:My 71 F100 XLT with PB has an adjustment behind the pedal at the firewall. Also, Thanks to the other that replied

Re: Brake pedal too high
My brake pedal has a fitting behind it to just shorten the rod. Not sure if it is stock or a previous owner welded it in but it looks factory. Here is a pic.

Re: Brake pedal too high
Using a pair of pliers, twist the push rod in a clockwise direction to increase the height of the brake pedal. If you need to lower the brake pedal you can do so by twisting the push rod counter clockwise.

Re: Brake pedal too high
Is that the shaft that comes from the brake booster? Would there be enough adjustment on the stop light switch?bellamor wrote:Using a pair of pliers, twist the push rod in a clockwise direction to increase the height of the brake pedal. Re: Brake pedal too high
Yes, it leads to the booster. For the brake light switch, you can move it, or you can add a spacer on the other side to flip the switch closed. Either works. I suggest moving it to avoid issues.

Re: Brake pedal too high
pcmdub, Thanks.. I was afraid of that, mine is a solid rod. I guess I could cut and thread it like that one or maybe I can buy one already made.pcmdub wrote:Yes, it leads to the booster. Thanks again
