Body damage
Well I went out on what was supposed to be a 2 hr trail ride and ended up getting in the middle of a snow storm 20 miles away from the nearest civilization. Needless to say it ended up a 12 hour trip. Two other rigs (toyotas)got stuck and had to be pulled out just before night fall and I the only fullsize rig (FORD)made it out but unfortunately not without some troubles. It was whiteout conditions the bed of my truck filled with snow in about 1 hr. My optima died and I only had enough fuel to get back to the nearest gas station if I drove with a light foot . I went off the trail and ate several trees and smashed in both doors the passenger side fender and the drivers side bed. Then upon getting out by sheer torque from my 390 Fe I ended up tearing my tailight rim off with a tree. But I still made it out. The body damage has been pulled out somewhat and now leaves memories for great stories.I now know what mods to make to my rig. I bought a detroit for my rearend today and a winch is coming. The only winch we had was under 3 ft of water on the front of one of the toyotas. So I had to use my highlift and about 50 ft of chain to recover my rig from the trees. Two yellowtops and a painless dual battery setup will be added next month. But I am lovin it...Those guys with the yotas told me my rig would never get in much less make it out because they said it was too heavy...well I was the one pullin them out. I told them experience was much more useful than their high dollar toys ...and it proved right.I was eating dinner in my warm home while they sat on the side of the road after I pulled them out because they could not drive their rigs on the icy roads. What a blast.

The weight of your Ford is probably what saved ya. Its funny to listen to people who think their stock rig can out do others in the woods. They never expect the unexpected.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

Yeah, up here in the NW we have tons of trees and tight trails. Full sized rigs just aren't cut out for it. But some of them try anyway. I only wheel my '71 Ford in areas I know will be open and accessible to a full size. That usually means only on FS roads in the snow because all the other trails are pretty tight.
That's MR. Jackass to you fellah!
