bench seat cover

I have a 1968 f100 , When i went to replace the seat cover the one i ordered for that year would not fit the seat frame , too small, the sides are way too short. Can someone tell me if the seat frame for a 73 to 79 is larger. Is there a way to tell them apart?

I believe the 73 -79 bench seat is a different shape. The seat back seems to be narrower in cross section. I didn’t notice much difference with the bottom seat part between the 67-72 and 73-79.

So, in trying to fit your seat cover, which part was too small? The seat back?
The width of the bench seats between the two should be about the same.

What are you going to do with your new cover? I’ve been shopping around for a new cover for my 73-79 bench seat in my truck.

When I bought my 1972 F250 it had a dent side (1973-79) bench seat in it. I didn't know the difference when I started working on the truck because it was the correct color for my truck. I found out that the dent side trucks have a catch/lock on the bottom side of the seat to hold the back of the seat in place as a safety precaution. If you have a seat release on your truck it may be from a dent side truck. I found a correct seat for my 1972 truck that has a bracket and bolt on each side of the seat to hold the back in place in case of an accident. The 1967 to 1971 seats just folded forward by pulling the top of the seat forward. The dent side truck seats have more cushion in them.

the cover that does not fit is for a 1968, and it is the seat bottom that will not fit. ordered a 1973 will see if that fits
