heat gauge not working

the gauge was working till the wire got on the intake..so i put the wires back together, installed a new heat sender in the intake, it still wont work...what am i missing? :?
1967 Ford F-100...goin back *STOCK*..just sayin

Is the oil pressure gauge working? They have the same power source. If it is then you have eliminated that as a possible source of trouble. Need to ground the temp sender wire and see if the gauge responds. If nothing then I'd pull the cluster out for inspection.

So does your oil pressure gauge work?

Sorry for jumping in here. I have the same problem and both heat and oil gauges not working. Where is the power source for both these gauges?
I didn't know they had common power source.

The power for both gauges comes from the instrument cluster voltage regulator. There should be a pulsing voltage coming out of it and averaging around 5 volts I think. You should have this voltage at 30 A and 30 B with the key on.

just checked the oil gauge..its not working either..ordering a new ivr...thanks for the help
