Jump the brake lights past the Turn Signal Switch?

Post by spacecadet »

So I lost my Brake Lights last night. Rear Running Lights, Headlights and Turn Signals all still work- Warning Flashers do not.

1. Checked the fuse, wasnt blown, but replaced anyways.
2. Cleaned contacts in the fuse box. No change.
3. Replaced Brake Light Switch. No change.
4. Pulled my steering wheel and the Turn Signal Switch is pretty nasty.

The wiring in the truck is very clean and no breaks from what I can see- given the running lights still work in the rear, I assumed it was the TS switch and ordered a new one online(no one local had one)... It's a week delivery :o

Anyone have experience with the wiring in the column, wire colors, to jump the Brake Lights past the TS switch to the Brake Light Switch? I won't have turn signals in the rear, but I only drive 5 minutes to work each day and no one in California uses their turn signals anyways...

Huge Thanks!

Solved it.

Jumped a fused wire from the battery to the brake light switch and then to the plug going to the rear lights.

Using the wiring diagrams on the web site:

Wire from Battery to Brake Light Switch (810)
Wire from Brake Light Switch (284) to Horseshoe Connector (282) / (283)
