Ever since I bought my 71 f250, the gas gauge would read about 7/8 full when the tank was completely full. After 2 years of this, today I filled the tank and as I drive away I see my gas gauge is pegged to the right. Also, my oil pressure gauge and temp gauge are reading higher than they normally do.
Then I drive home turn off ignition and after a half hour, start the truck up and the gauges are back to business as usual.
Could this possibly be a voltage regulator going bad or just the ghosts of Christmas past? BTW I had my parking lights on when this happened and they did not blow out, which is something that can happen when voltage regulators go bad.

Re: Gauge Gremlin?
There's an gauge voltage regulator on the back of the cluster that may be acting up or you could have loose wiring issues that causes gremlins to pop up. Mine gas gauge has never read full but it's certainly empty when it says it is.
