Replacing the factory seat upholstery

Post by My427stang »

After 45 years, my seat, which looked sorta OK, finally doesn't hang with the rest of the truck LOL

I have decided to go with a repop style seat upholstery kit (I am just calling it that because I am not buying the simple cover, I am buying the kit, hog rings, etc, to make it look like original)

Does anyone have pictures of theirs done this way? Looking for brand, a picture, your opinion, etc.

I haven't decided if I am going to go maroon again, or black, but interested in what everyone thinks is a good seat kit

Thanks in advance!

I refurbished my seat. Not only with the new upholstery but also added jute webbing, matting and new 1" thick foam, welded broken springs Turn out pretty good. Less than $200.00 for all material

Did you just cut foam or were you able to find it premade?

I purchased it on-line. I ordered enough to do the seat and the back and cut it myself.Have to make sure you order the right density of the foam. Could probably find it at your local upholstery shop but since i was ordering my materials on-line i just ordered the foam to.

Anyone else have any pics and/or brand experience for premade upholstery?

BTW, as a follow up, this company isn't the greatest. I ended up having to pay for an upholstery shop to fix the cover at the joint near the pivot.

It looks nice now, but I ended up spending within 150- bucks of a quote for a real nice shop to do the job with better material and I could have priced any color I wanted.

I'll update with a picture soon, it's real nice, but I'd go elsewhere if given another choice

Yep, all of the covers made by A1 and sold by all kinds of different places need to be finish stitched at the bottom of the seat back.
