Right front turn signal not working on Old Red

Post by crazyhorse »

My 72 Ranger XLT front right turn signal not working , park light works .

What I have done , removed the light from the mount and replaced the bulb, replaced both flashers, replaced light switch, replaced ignition switch, replaced hazard switch, removed instrument cluster & replaced bulbs.

I hooked the battery back up & the turn signal worked for about 1 minute and stopped working .

I have not removed the steering wheel yet.
Is there anything inline on the turn signal wire that can cause this?
All the other lights work.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Up date, I removed the steering wheel , checked the turn signal wires , all look good.

I hope some of you electrical gurus will give some help, advice, information.

The park light works, the rear turn signal works .

Need some help.

Is there a simple way to trace the right front turn signal wire?
Much easier to go backwards by starting at the actual socket itself, (with the bulb removed).
1) Check for power to the turn signal light bulb socket, (usually a culprit).
2) Check for power to the harness that feeds the turn signal socket, (just behind the radiator support).
3) Check for power where the turn signal wiring goes through the firewall, (if memory serves me right the harness unplugs there).
4) Follow that same colored wire up into the steering column and check for power on the wire there.

Side note...this is hard to do with a simple test light-you can see an actual volt meter jump up and go back down much...easier.
Don't be afraid of a volt meter many here can easily walk you through how to read on if your not familiar with how to.
