Rusted out dash - not pad
On my project truck the area around the driver's side blower vent (near the radio grille) is pretty rusted out. Is the best thing to do is cut out the spot welds holding in the dash and put in a different one or fabricate a patch or the like?

If it's just one small area ,cutting and patching should be ok,if it's along the whole dash then it depends if you are keeping it steel or putting the pad back on.
Pictures would help.

Re: Rusted out dash - not pad
I just used a sawzall and cut the whole face off mine when I found a better one. Couple tech screws across the top and the brackets on the bottom kept it tight and looking good.

Cut out the rusted area, weld in a patch, and then put a dash pad over it so you won't have to worry about making it look nice
Be sure to use seam sealer on the welds, and spray some rustoleum over it so it won't rust again.
