Cv unit resistance value.

Post by DB1996 »

So the oil, fuel and temp gauges aren't working. Measured 12 volts going into the CV unit on the back of the gauges but nothing coming out. Checked for continuity and there is .9 ohms across it. What is it's value supposed to be? Is it breaking down under load? Or is there another issue? I checked all grounds and everything is good there as well.

Most CVRs run at 5 volts, but they pulse. I know in other vehicles I took them apart and they had contact points that eventually burn out. There was a transistorized replacement but I can't recall the number right now. It's because the gauges were originally designed to run on 6 volt systems.

Hey Carnuck. Thanks for the reply. I did see it pulsing on my meter but it was less than 1 Volt. So I would say that that unit is not functioning properly. Agreed? Or am I missing something?

If it's one you can open, you can clean the contacts.
