F600 gauge panel switches and lights

Post by sargentrs »

So, next up in my project, I think I'll start work on my F600 gauge panel and Autometer gauge configuration. I already think I know what I'm putting where as far as gauges go but I'm not familiar with the other holes that, I think, various switches and lights may have been designed. Regarding the 3 locatons on the left side and the hole in the lower right corner, can anybody tell me what usually goes there and what it's used for? I'll use that information to decide whether I want to use it or plug it. Thanks for any and all input!

Lights and wipers on the sides of the panel if memory serves. Easier to reach there with the massive steering wheel on the big trucks.

Lower right hole was not originally there. The three left holes usually for add on's factory dealership or aftermarket. Bottom one was usually for the blink marker light switch. Whats nice if your truck is a duel tank truck the tank selection switch can go up there. I've restored several of these and only the bottom hole has been used for the factory blink marker switch and the other two where never cut our or caped. Or else a user added something there. Please add pictures during restoration

Thanks for your responses, Jamie and 69Ford! Not sure what I'm going to do with that bottom right hole. Already have the brake warning light hole in my bottom left dash location. Seems a waste to use the 3 on the left for wipers or lights because then I'd have the holes in the dash to plug. Might use the 3 on the left for hazard flasher, fog light switch and a high beam indicator? Maybe use the lower right, if I can figure out how, to wire in a low fuel light? I plan to populate the 3 large holes with speedo, tach and a quad gauge for water, oil, fuel and volts. Then in the 4 smaller holes I'd like to add a vacuum gauge, oil temp, air/fuel ration and fuel pressure gauges. Having a little difficulty getting all the gauges from the same manufacturer with the same style font and face. So far Autometer is the closest I can get to everything but not pleased with the design of their quad gauge. Maybe a little tech overload, and definitely not original (sorry 69Ford!), but my goal is total engine diagnostics at a glance. Probably chrome the panel and use black face gauges. Interior theme is red and black. I'm using a 21 circuit aftermarket wire harness with built in relays and mini fuses. Thanks for the feedback!

Actually, I already sent you the gauges back in January 2014  Just now getting to this part of my build. Taking a little longer than I planned (don't it always). I'll be posting my progress in my build thread. Thanks!

Thanks that means the gauges are already installed in a f500 setup. Wow how quickly time flies. That maybe some of your old gauges in the pic.
